Amy Nichols is a fine arts photographer in the New River Valley of SW Virginia. Her passion for photography stems for her studies in graphic design at Syracuse University when the use of technology was in its infancy. Always an artist first, she holds true to her old school ways and is very much a paper person. Her tool of choice just happens to be a digital camera.

While staying true to her artistic nature Amy feels that not all images need to be digitally manipulated and is very much a "straight out of the camera" person. Gravitating between minimalist and still life/vanita style images, Amy prefers her images to tell a story. Not necessarily a story of her choosing, but one easily imagined for yourself. She still carries a pen and paper often times drawing out her images before ever picking up the camera.

Her work has been shown in galleries throughout Virginia. She has won several honors for her work as well as contributing to the "Pics From The Field" column in Virginia Wildlife Magazine.
